it was losing 250 actually and I can bet this article is just taking what was mentioned this morning, that the physical console 381$ in parts to manufacture, without thinking needs to pay shipping rates, R&D, the Sony and Ps related salaries, Marketing etc.

The PS4 is also selling at a loss. Sony is paying about 381 $ for the physical console, then you have to pay shipping cost , executives (Yoshida, House, Tretton etc) R&D and engineering. and mostly the console is sold maybe 350 to retailers, so they profit from the console. I say 2 first party games and sony is in profitability.

you're gonna have to buy a usb3.0 external hdd for this to be worthwhile. I don't know if ms specified this but it would be best to have a harddrive that has its own power outlet to ensure maximum transfer rate.

inside the PS4, it'exactly like the PS3, you can put any 9.5mm 2.5" laptop hdd. your argument doesn't hold much ground.

I would have liked a blue line that fades to green. This would have kept sony's flagship power/disc indicator.
the PSX had power written in blue and open written in green.
and well same thing for the PS2 and PS3.
it's mostly what happened with dreamcast, the sega saturn came out and was a developer's nightmare and also a logistics one (hard to produce). without many games on the console, the dreamcast came too early to "erase" the saturn mistake, but then the mistrust came in. though sega's marketing had an awkward timing.
My guess is that nintendo knows it must avoid pulling sega's mistake.

yes the PS4 will be sold at an average loss of 50-60 dollars. I don't know the exact number. So buying 2 games I guess should have the console break even for sony.

Yes I bought a DS4 and some games do not work with the DS4. games that happen to work with will have "share" mapped as select and "options" as start.
The build quality of the DS4 is impressive, the DS3 feels awfully cheap compared to it.

I don't get people who claim the Xbox one is miles better than the PS4 because it has better launch games.
in 4 months you'll have stopped playing said games and will be looking for the next thing to come out.
Same as me, I like my PS4, but yeah I'm almost only playing Resogun, and as far as I know, we'll be in the 8th gen for the next 7 years and then some. Exclusives are still coming out on the PS3, what say you?
